Lachydrin, and you other products with lactic acid.

Can they handle acids, even mild ones? That can be tricky for skin sensitivity. My sib wound up finding a derm at a research hosp rather than a office practice and an immunologist to determine skin reactions. This was many years back but had a big impact on improvement. I remember this so well because I drove my sibling to appts.

While I don’t suffer with skin issues a less is more approach to skincare I learned from my wife. Her sister is a microbiologist.

Someone I know intimately has ichthyosis, is a physician, and uses Lachydrin.

Correction: he now uses AmLactin

Such an indiv health issue. sharing my family experience as well. However it can help others. I was also asking about the use of acids on the face given the variety of rec’s derms provide.

I see. don’t know about acids in general.

I have a skin issue (seb derm) for which something with salicylic acid was recommended.

That’s an example of a product my sibling couldn’t use. The acid was too drying. Glycerin based products were better.

All that matters are positive results.

I see. I believe they are very different. One serves to slough or exfoliate “sticking” cells, and the other is an emollient. Others are antiinflammatories. I can see why any of those could be a problem for someone.

Thats my understanding as well. Once my sib got the inflammation addressed soothing and softening the skin followed.

But any form of exfoliation triggered inflammation.

Has anyone else run into scalp irritation or dermatitis after using Aveda shampoo and conditioner? I am using Nutreplenish Shampoo and Conditioner. I haven’t had dermatitis this bad in 4 years.

Any favourite shampoos? I like and can recommend R+ Co Television Hair shampoo and conditioner, as well as Virtue and Sachajuan for a splurge.

I switched to old fashioned soap bars at some point and never looked back. I’m using soap from this traditional men’s wear English brand, Taylor’s of Old Bond Street. But I’ve also used Dr. Bronner, but I’m less enthusiastic about ir.

Before that I also used Aveda amongst other (expensive) brands. With soap, my hair is just much healthier and better looking.

I use an organic coconut conditioner from amazon, also a great option.
