The only bad ice cream in my book is ice cream I can’t have.
Tried this one the other night. I was not impressed. For my taste it had too much dough, and far too much chocolate chips. Ratio-wise it almost felt like ice cream cookie dough rather than cookie dough ice cream. The ice cream parts were also slightly icy, but that might be the fault of the distributor or my local WF where I picked it up.
Good to know.
That’s how I feel about many fruit based ice creams.
Many are, ahem, to use a very Gen Z term, too “fruit forward”
Even when an ice cream has mix-ins, it needs to taste like ice cream first, and the mix-ins second.
Ice cream, even with added accoutrements, cannot lose the quiddity of ice cream.
100%. Since I only have ice cream probably 4-5 times a year I usually prefer it unmixed and unadorned for the full smooth/creamy experience. Really curious about that mango sticky rice flavor though.
You would not like it.
It was too “mango forward.”
Almost like eating frozen mango.
It’s mostly Haagen Dazs for me. I like several of their flavors and usually buy chocolate or strawberry. Theirs is my favorite rocky road because it uses marshmallow creme instead of little marshmallows which i hate the texture of. My cheap buy is Kroger’s store brand rocky road which also uses marshmallow creme. Not great quality but at $1.99 for a quart and a half, I can overlook that somewhat.
I mostly buy Haagen Daz Vanilla Bean and Haagen Daz Pralines and Cream for my DC.
Today, I bought cheaper and local Kawartha Dairy Pralines and Cream, and Kawartha Dairy Muskoka Mocha.
It is half the price, has more air, less calories due to air and less cream, and is easier to scoop.

I’m partial to H-D Vanilla Swiss Almond.
