Get the skinless boneless kind. The other is a pain to deal with, and you definitely don’t want to in an emergency when you have enough other things to deal with.

Re the shelf-stable Indian pouches – you can add canned beans/legumes/veg to them, there should be enough sauce / seasoning there.
