The above post was from Jan. 13th. The price today for XLg brown Market Basket Cage Free eggs was $5.49/dozen. So while not an astronomical price hike like others are seeing around the country, it’s still a hefty jump over a 3-1/2 month period.
Prices ranged from $4.29 to $6.99/dozen for Large or XL. Didn’t look at the Medium or Jumbo egg prices, but they had plenty in stock.
So even MB had to deal with the ongoing egg price issues.
Where I live and shop - PNW chain grocery stores - large eggs have been holding steady at $10.39 for 18 for months now. I had anticipated a bit of a decrease, but not to be.
There was a digital coupon at Safeway this week (starting today). Large Eggs - $2.47/dozen (limit 2). I overslept and got there an hour after they opened, there were only 3 dozen left. I got my two, but feel bad for the next person(s).
I had put all quiche making on hold (until the price came down a bit), but I think I might make a chicken quiche next week.
SF Bay Area, some grocery stores egg prices have leveled off while others continue to charge more. Sprouts has 18 pasture raised (non-organic) eggs for $6.79 or so. A dozen cage free at Grocery Outlet run $11.89 or so.
My local Lucky’s no longer sells Reser’s deviled egg style potato salad.
They said it got “too expensive” and “wasn’t fair”. I don’t understand the “fair” part.
Husbands second favorite carb that I don’t need to make. His first favorite was rice and peas from a local Jamaican restaurant, and they recently closed their brick and mortar.

Trader Joe’s in Asheville is now allowing 2 doz/customer. Still $3.49 for cage-free.
Egg supply / availability here in metro-area MN seems to have stabilized, no empty cases in the past month. Today at Costco $5.19 for a carton of 18 (egg source - Harris, Iowa). My usual grocery still has 6.49/dozen price - at least it’s starting to trend downward.
