Oh, my lord. That would be a decadent dessert. Our newish Turkish place makes a version(ish, it’s mostly chocolate and pistachios, no kadaif) that’s not too rich, but we always share a slice anyway.
Recipe says it serves 10. I suppose it could be a showstopper dessert at a party…
Wonder if I could convince my dude to try his hand at it. But we really don’t need that kinda stuff in the house. It also doesn’t scream JULY (or even August) to me.
Might be a fab dessert for a dinner party in winter, tho
Yes, I see what you mean, but cheesecake is usually served chilled or room temp, no? And some fresh summer fruits on the side would help cut through the richness.
I’m a sucker. This was better than the previous no-name brand I bought at the grocery store - better quality chocolate. Wished it was a little thicker, though.
Saw that at the local Mallwart. $14.99 for a bar that’s much thinner than the Beemax one we picked up at the Giant market for $11.99. TBH it also doesn’t look nearly as appealing.
Guess yer paying for that fancy Lindt name.
That’s the one I had also. This one is better.
It’s all a matter of personal preference. I prefer spending that much money on a heftier bar with a nutty, toasty, crispy filling.
Evidently, some of the Dubai chocolate bar made its way into a dessert last night…
Wow.
I also saw that Lindt bar at a similar price. Which made me take a pass.
I had tried this one:
It was a more reasonable $10 or so. It was fine. Alas, the summer temps out here meant by the time I got it home it had lost its temper entirely.
Personally, I can see the appeal but I can get a similar hit from a TJ’s milk chocolate rice crisp bar. The pistachio is a subtle addition that I can take or leave.
Is this thing still a trend? I’m such a late adopter. These are from Costco - they’re delicious, but the ingredient list is quite long with food dyes and things I can’t pronounce.
That’s about twice the price of other Charles Chocolates bars, so I guess they’re just capitalizing on the trend.
‘international virality’ as a selling point cracks me up
The fad must be waning, because Dubai chocolate finally came to our little town. Here we now have a Turkish version, currently On sale for $2.00 a bar.
DH, who is the chocolate officianado in our household, prefers milk. (I’m choco-ambivilent in general, but if I had to choose, would choose dark). A sample bar got the thumbs up, so I bought him a box of 24.
Wouldn’t “virility” be a bigger selling point?
I bought my first Dubai chocolate bar at a Turkish bakery in Toronto. it was fine , but I’m not sure what the fuss is about.
The one I tried cost about $12 for 100g. It was a bit too sweet for me, as sweet as milk chocolate Belgian seashells filled with hazelnut spread.
I’d rather eat a $4 RitterSport.
Me too….any day!
