Dubai chocolate

An entire end cap at HomeGoods, and more on the shelves. If this isn’t THE food trend of 2025 I don’t know what is.

BAH! All milk chocolate!

Yup. Seems essential for the Dubai thing.

The only one I’ve seen in dark chocolate is the one Trader Joe’s was selling (I forget the brand, it wasn’t house branded).

Okay, this has now crossed the line.

I’m always surprised when I see ads for food-themed perfume, but there’s clearly a market for them.

Much as I love my B&BW, I’ve never felt compelled to smell like a bundt cake or lemon meringue :woman_shrugging:

Well, I’ll admit to buying their Vanilla Bean Noel lotion in November when it comes out. I stock up for the year. And vanilla is the only scent I wear IF I choose to spritz myself before going out. It’s a light enough scent and not overpowering. :woman_shrugging:

At my first office job in the late 1970s, the HR Director wore tea rose perfume. It was so obnoxiously strong, it sometimes made me gag if I walked into the ladies room after she had been in there.

I am partial to that one, but it has other notes that don’t make me feel like I’m a cookie in clothing

I also like the honey lotion for the summer months, and am bummed how quickly the espresso got taken out of their shea butter line :frowning:

But they’ve had literal ‘dessert’ lines that were just horrifyingly sweet & cloying. I mean… I do realize their focus group is probably at least 30 years younger than I.

Point taken. The perfumes I wore when I was a teenager wrre different from what I wore from mid 20s to my 40s or so. MUCH stronger in those 2 periods of time. Now, extremely subtle is my preference.

As they say “a scent is to be discovered — not announced.”

Costco had Dubai brownies on sale for $4.97- an eye popping amount of sugar in each, but I had to get them to try. Will report back…

I kind of love it

Compared the Maud Borup with the Patislove that’s available at Wal-Mart and briefly at Trader Joe’s. The Patislove won by a lot. Its filling is much more generous and it’s moulded in a darker chocolate. With the Maud Borup I can’t even taste the pistachio, and the filling to chocolate ratio is off. Bonus: the Patislove is cheaper.

Disregard the folded laundry

At Homesense today I saw a bottle of Dubai Chocolate syrup. Not being a fan of the chocolate, I was not tempted to buy the syrup.

I don’t even know what that would be? Just some chocolate pistachio goop? I guess peeps forget that the toasted kadaif is a major part of the whole “Dubai” thang

Pretty sure the two or three different brands of panettone I saw in “Dubai-style” varieties didn’t include kadayif, either; it’s just capitalizing on a trend. After all, it’s not as if chocolate + pistachio (or any nut) is a novel idea.

I saw Dubai Chocolate Butter Tarts at the One of a Kind Show in Toronto in Dec.

I didn’t like my one Dubai Chocolate Chocolate Bar from a Turkish Bakery enough to pay for Dubai Chocolate Anything again, but I would try a few things if they were free.

Hell, I would try almost anything that’s free. Free is my favorite price!
