It’s pretty nice! I started it back when I left CH, and it’s a really neat group of folks
Just to save anyone else the disappointment - they don’t ship food goods to the U.S.
This year, I decided to skip the online gifts (previously I’ve used Zingerman’s, Zabars, Russ & Daughters, Murray’s Cheese, Indian spice assortments, Gourmet Greek goods), and send a box of various local or interesting foods to my friends and relatives by mail.
Right now, looks like some boxes will include local Pluck Teas, various local (Torontonian )David Chow Chocolates, imported panforte, a gluten-free Vergani Panettone and some imported Coco chocolate bars.
Granola
Another bark; this one with dried apricots, sliced almonds and pepitas. I didn’t realize they weren’t the same as pumpkin seeds!
I could hoover that entire pile. Or at least I’d try…
Nice provisions for the lucky recipient!
give me some food gifts ideas that should I consider to send to some of my close friends and parents for the Christmas.
Thanks for the link! I always wondered how they shelled those
I hate it when I can’t find ideas in a 300+ msg thread. Ofc if I were a bot I wouldn’t know any better.
Just sent 3 packages out yesterday via USPS flat rate medium sized boxes. Each contained a box of baklava and one of koularakia, tied up in red ribbons. May send out a couple more, the rest will be delivered in person. Didn’t think to take a pic.
Yes I do! Not stuff I make - some folks get kits from Russ & Daughters or Zabars (mixing Christmas and Chanukah here, and not always by who observes what), and I send some things from Burger’s Smokehouse - I inherited my father’s gifting list and have kept it up even though this year all the recipients have now passed away - and Edward’s Hams (now owned by Burger’s - Edward’s had a devastating fire in its smokehouse a few years ago and couldn’t recover). I also send things from other places I can’t remember from one day to the next. I’m always looking, but never satisfied. The choices disappoint me. I have a feeling I should catalog my research.
I sent a box of chocolates through the Li-Lac site today…https://www.li-lacchocolates.com/collections/kosher-chanukah-chocolate/products/20-pc-chanukah-chocolate-gift-box
I received a beautiful box of 6 local cheeses, olives, jam, crackers, chutney, local chocolate and pecans from Gunn’s Hill in Woodstock, Ontario. https://gunns-hill-artisan-cheese.myshopify.com/
My friends received the Li-Lac chocolates I sent, on time for Hannukah .
I found a cute Maruchan ramen bowl set that came with a chopstick holder, ceramic spoon, and chopsticks for my brother. I just mailed him that along with an assortment of instant noodles from the Chinese market (everything from Shin black ramen to instant pho and mee goreng). To go with, a jar of chili crisp, cans of Thai iced tea and Taiwanese milk coffee, assorted Japanese fruit gummies, latté candies, spicy rice crisp snacks, and shrimp chips. I hope he likes it (he eats a lot of ramen and likes spicy food). I also sent a couple pairs of jeans he’d asked for.
