Decadent cheeses

Mr. Bionda picked one of these up for me at Murray’s in Grand Central recently and it was delicious - but I left it sitting in the fridge for about 3 weeks before I busted into it. Definitely took a while to fully ripen. I like most of Vermont Creamery’s offerings and the small sizes make them very appealing to me as the only lover of soft-rinded cheeses in this household. Their Cremont is another favorite.

I like that too. And agree on the size thing.

Also, Ardrahan. Nothing like it.

Bought it a few times at DiBruno’s in Philly, but then the fam had a dispute and it was no longer available :frowning:

I haven’t had Ardrahan in AGES but I do remember loving it.

We were downright obsessed with it. On that note — can’t forget to mention Stichelton

Any port in a storm ?

I vote for Kunick from Nettle Meadow, as long as it is almost too old. Half goat, half cow.

Is it $30 for Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam for you ? Where do you live because here (SF) I can get it often <$20 when on sale even <$15

The Marin French company sells a selection of mini-rounds at Costco for a VERY good price.

Yes, I focus on a “small piece of luxury” so often, thanks for the wording! I’m buying far less than even half of pound and it’s so fun to try them in a tasting. Focusing on the per pound price doesn’t work for me. At Whole Foods, I look at the ones on sale and choose to buy the smallest packaged/least expensive.

I also love the small ones at WF and elsewhere that call them “snacks”…even smaller pieces for trying.

Every Wednesday morning I look at WF sales for cheese online, and often find in store sales that weren’t advertised.
