I just figured I’d get an imperfect result and I have a pan of similar dimensions that’s induction-capable. I take everything manufacturers say with a grain of salt anyway; their motives aren’t always to ensure I get a great result.
I keep a converter disk in the travel case of my Vollrath Mirage Pro, just in case there’s no appropriate magnetic pan around.
And I used to keep a live Linux CD in my backpack. I hear you!
Well, I’ve now had this “Anyday” bowl for a week, and it hasn’t been used once. No, that’s not true, it’s been used to display Satsumas on a side table.
I foolishly suggested donating or regifting it before its packaging was recycled. “[SIL] put a lot of thought into that.” She did? “You’ve always wanted a MW-able bowl.” I have? What was disqualifying about our 10 other glass bowls?
The cover has been already been interred–at least temporarily–deep in the Cabinet of Forgetting, from whence nothing returns to use.
I’ve added the shakshuka ingredients to Wahine’s grocery list. Shall we start a betting pool on the # of times this bowl sees the indide of the MWO in '23?
I have one of those, plus its relatives, the Drawers of Forgetting. If I close my eyes and am very quiet, I can hear objects singing “Somewhere.”
As for the betting pool I think we know the outcome.
I tend to agree.
I find cleaning my gas stovetop quite easy.
Never thought of it as a problem, but mine isn’t as deep and full of weird angles as some gas stovetop I’ve seen on videos.
When I cook on my fathers induction stovetop I always worry, that I’ll scratch the surface, when rearranging the pans and pots I use on his cooktop.
This never worries me on my gas stovetop at home.
I’ll always be a die hard fan of gas over induction, I think.
It’s just my personal preference.
I hate microwave ovens.
I don’t think they’ll do anything for me I can’t do using other methods.
I have never used the one we own.
My wife uses it once in a while though.
The only thing I’ll use our microwave for is to set the clock.
So. to make ready for the shakshuka, I placed the Anyday in the MWO just to see if it gets cooked in.
Here’s a fun fact: The wide base of this model is not only frosted, it is domed and smooth (just a hint of a base rim). This means it clings tenaciously to the MWO turntable, vacuum-style.
I have silicone mats that fit over the burners on my induction cooktop. They protect the glass. But I never scratched the glass on my old glass top electric. I just got them to see if I could really cook through them. I can.
The acid test is whether the mats help in jumping things like saute pans.
I’ve long given up on jumping. I use wok shovels.
I’m hoping the next time you see a hummingbird grimace, you can snap a picture. Might get a pretty penny for that one.
I use the MW; but, as stated, got no soul. Angel food was a nice surprise, though.
I have several storage areas in my house. Cabinet of Forgetting (older baking stuff), Amnesia Drawer (knives), Consignment to Oblivion Corner (where I keep powdered “instant” items). That’s just the kitchen.

Thanks for the report. I’m not surprised, and wouldn’t take that bet.
Maybe there’s a market for these in NYC, for apartments with tiny kitchens. I’ve been considering getting rid of my microwave altogether, so I’m not the target consumer.
Baking Cabinet of Forgetting is over the fridge. Guarantees long-term confinement.
That is where mine is, too. However, it is far from forgotten. I clamber around in it for bread pans, baking dishes, and more. Every time I rummage through it, I have to fight a strong urge to make madeleines or brioche.
I’m never without a strong urge to eat madeleines - but the only baking molds I own are for corn sticks …
I have a set of Octoberfest mugs up there at my house. Haven’t seen them in a while.
I have an orphan Oktoberfest mug (glass!) mug I just discovered wayyy in the back of my glasses cabinet. Stoneware ones stay in the freezer, so they’re gone but not forgotten. My prize possession is a Taz freezer mug (the double-walled kind with gell between the walls). A gift to me! I always know where it is (in the freezer, of course). Better than a koozie !
I’ve used these dishes extensively for about 6 months. The excellent recipes on the Anyday website allow you to select the power setting of your microwave, which is key to success in this adventure. I love cooking with gas, but having cooked tens of thousands of meals with gas I’m really enjoying this method and getting tasty results. The handles on the pans can be pushed down so the dishes fit in the fridge with the lid on, another much-appreciated efficiency.
