Curious food items you've seen, but have no interest in buying or trying

The taste is inoffensive, if one is already a fan of the chicken/egg duo.

I had balut in Manila in 2011; some ambulatory vendors meandered the streets with baskets of them.

Maybe it’s also to do with having all the ingredients at once. As a German you obviously always have cheese and bread. Maybe others are as diligent.
TLDR: Convenience isn’t always about time or the ability to cook.

Yup, bread & cheese are pretty much staples in my house, always have been.

In my case, time, ability and access to ingredients for this convenience product outshine the advantages it has for others.

Still can’t think of any sitch where I’d be desperate for desiccated strawberries, and yet.

I realize not all products are geared at me. I still comment on them, however, as I find their existence curious at the very least.

These look like classic student drunk/hangover food to me.

No doubt their popularity is equal to hot pockets and other UPFs in the frozen section.

I guess at my ripe old age, I expect some quality even for drunk/hangover food

Well, having recently asked my college-going son why he was eating on his desk in his dorm room he said the dining table and kitchen counters were full of dirty dishes .

So I can see there is a certain demographic to which this convenience food will appeal.

They (college students) also commit crimes against bread:

I’m monitoring for assaults on cheese.

There are 3 varieties currently available at Aldi. I didn’t get any, as we’re cheesed out at the mo.

SPRAY beef tallow? Shirley, you jest!

It’s just so….. dumb. That whole paleo trend clearly hasn’t run its course yet

I use a lot of tallow, but no idea why anyone would buy it. It’s pretty easy to just render it yourself and pretty much any beef roast (other than like eye round) will have plenty to spare.

That, and … Wagyu? Isn’t the attraction the marbled meat, not the fat? :woman_facepalming:t2:

With true Wagyu it is more complicated as wagyu fat is quite different than regular beef fat and so I would say the attraction to wagyu isn’t only the marbled meat but also partly the fat itself as it had a different mouthfeel than regular fat

Try it and report back. Bc I most certainly won’t.

That description was based on trying it at different occasions. Kobe or Miyazaki beef isn’t something we eat in large quantities but when we have the occasion it is one of the best beef you will ever have

I’ve had Wagyu. It’s good.

I was suggesting you buy & try the tallow and cooking spray.

We tried tallow for cooking before and weren’t overly impressed with the flavor (it’s not bad but also nothing special) For us at least, the only fat which really adds something to certain dishes is duck fat

Paper towel designed specifically for blotting oil off of food. I saw this on another site and first assumed it was a joke. But nope, it’s real. Does the world really need this?
