Maple Bacon donuts were a trendy food around the time $4 fancy donuts arrived in Toronto. They were also featured as fair food at the Calgary Stampede about 12 years ago.
Not bad. I prefer regular maple dipped donuts or Canadian Maple (maple icing, donut filled with custard ). I would eat a Maple Bacon donut if it was offered.
There was a trend at fairs of using donuts for buns on cheeseburgers or for grilled cheese some time ago. I never tried it
I do like hot cross buns used in grilled cheese, and in breakfast sandwiches, inspired by the Dusty Knuckle in England.
