Cookware--End of a Golden Era?

According to the Google’s AI:

Nonstick surfaces (PTFE/Teflon) are significantly more toxic when cooked dry (empty) than wet. Heating an empty pan can cause it to exceed 500 degrees in minutes, releasing toxic fumes known to cause polymer fume fever. Wet cooking with food or oil keeps the temperature lower, making it safe for daily use.

you see i gently lift a couple of edges, i wasn’t too apprehensive but i did take a time to think of ramifications.

i am wary of nonstick coatings and heat abuse, one reason why i don’t recommend putting in dishwashers.

however, in normal use, and as you witness from my video which was realtime and unedited, that pan is a long way from getting into risky temperatures… i’m not sure even in an oven at gasmark nine it’d be coming close.

also AI?? X)

This seems to be one category where vintage may not be better. PFOA was the more problematic of the chemicals and it was used in Europe until 2008 to smooth out the finish. That said, i’ve bought a new “Tefal” branded pan since then, with a thick aluminum sidewall like the one pictured.
