Control Freak

I haven’t been on here for a minute.

Wow a lot has happened in the precision cooktop arena.

Breville just released a home version of Control Freak. But I’m not impressed because it’s only slightly cheaper. And you need Chefstep’s annual subscription to unlock the cheaper price…

Earlier this year, a company just came out with a built-in 30" precision cooktop called Impulse Cooktop, which uses battery to increase the max outpower to 10Kwh. So it can boil 1 liter of water in 40s. That’s impressive! I’ve been looking for a 4 burner CF built-in one for years. Now, I can finally consider replacing my existing built-in stove.

Recently, another company came out with a new one called Vision Infinity Cooktop.
Besides the CF like precise temp control, it has a weigh scale, step by step recipes with pre-set temps and timers, built-in vent hood, etc. The coolest thing tho is the camera. It reminds you when to flip the pancake, measure the steak’s thickness, prevents overcooking and boil overs, etc.

I still love my CF but now I don’t think I will get a 2nd unit of CF. Because there are too many options now.

I’m thinking about getting the Vision Infinity Cooktop first. If it’s good, i’ll buy a 2nd unit to replace my old CF.

For the Impulse Cooktop, I have to wait a bit to see how good it is. That’s a bigger investment with all the installation costs.

What do you all think?

This Vision Infinity Cooktop is definitely promising!! It has so many useful features (in addition to exact temp control), such as the built-in scale, auto recipes, etc.

Most importantly, in the FAQs it says it will retail below $1,000, which is just awesome!

I already pulled the trigger on the reservation which comes with a 10% off discount. Now, just waiting to see the full price unveil in October. Can’t wait!!
