Confused

NATASCHA SAID
@moderator-team since I personally never actually started this thread, would you mind closing it now? Surely, we have enough tipping threads as it is, and — perhaps not surprisingly, the discussion is veering into the political.

Thanks.

Hi Natascha, you were post number 1. I think you did start this thread.
I maybe wrong but you are listed as number one in the posts. How very bizarre.

It was split from the budget thread. Natascha did not start it.

Since the title of this thread is confused.

I’m confused and would like to ask a question.

How much thread drift is allowed??

When people have conversations (in real life), often one subject leads to another and occasionally useful information is exchanged.

As an example, earlier today I talked with a neighbor that was walking by. One subject lead to another and I was able to recommend my dentist to him. At one time, we had both gone to the same dentist, but that gentleman got ill and was forced to retire.

Thread drift is a sign of an engaged and intelligent member base.

Not surprisingly, there’s a whole thread about that too.

My thoughts then are below, not very different than they are now. There is natural drift and then there is intentional derailing or diverting to a tangential topic because a poster prefers it or has nothing to contribute to the original post but it’s an active topic and they want to be there. Sometimes it doesn’t matter, other times the OP was actually seeking real information or input and they don’t get it.
