Wow I guess I should start sitting through the credits, I had no idea Spielberg and Demme directed episodes of Columbo.
Yah, there’s a few future mega-directors that started out directing episodes of Columbo. Such a fun series!
Wow, thanks so much for that list! Unfamiliar with all of them (or forgot them over time), save for the last one mentioned!
Columbo ~ The thread that keeps on giving. Hard to believe it’s been almost four years since the last post. Time to revisit some of my favorite episodes. Not that I disagree with most of the list, but at least Swan Song made the Top 10.
Colombo was well written and produced, and as mentioned above, some big time directors. Spielberg directed a few very early. In the revival (late 80’s) they modeled a young wunderkind director after him. I always liked how the villains were cast as super arrogant, which of course played to Columbo.
i use this as a resource when re-watching episodes. this guy has published some books on the show, and is working on a project that discusses all the scripts that were never ultimately produced. his personal rankings are here: https://columbophile.com/episode-rankings/
there is an informative interview with the author on this podcast (which i also recommend). https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/requiem-for-a-fallen-star/id1605505844?i=1000613957794
A master of understatement, Columbo is ageless. “Oh, just one more thing that’s been botherin’ me…”
Wow. I’ve never watched Columbo. I’ve been missing out and aim to rectify toot sweet.
What what whattttt?
Right? Something is very wrong with me.
I envy you for getting to discover it all for the first time! He’s got quite a few food-themed episodes, too.
I’m a Columbo fan. A Rockford fan. A Quincy fan. A Matlock fan. A Simon and Simon fan.
I just started watching Columbo a few years ago. Love the show and Peter Falk.
I had a bit of a crush on Peter Falk as a teenager
I have a major crush on him through Columbo performances to this day. He died in 2011.
This has probably been answered uptopic, but where are you watching Columbo?
It has varied over the years, but right now , for me Google search pulls up
Kind of creepy that Google search knows what I have subscribed to.
ETA This looks useful
In the Bay Area, on Saturday night, channel 11.4 (KNTV, NBC affiliate) broadcasts like 3 back to back episodes.
Perfect! Thanks.
