No, one shouldn’t. But I can see the appeal of grabbing a can or two if on a vacation or for a day at the beach.
Exactly. I don’t need help making a vodka lemonade…but it’s nice to have it in a chilled pouch for spontaneous happy hours at our community garden.
Right–didn’t think of the portability advantage.

yes I remember this era well
I always make the cocktails on my own that I cannot think of checking the cans because I will not possibly buy them. But I would like to get the canned cocktails and taste their differences with the homemade ones. Maybe I will love them and change for good and use them instead of making them at home.
What are some of your favorite cocktails to make?
My experience with canned/bottled cocktails is there’s not enough booze in them. I make most drinks with a two ounce pour.
I prefer the method of filling the glass and topping it up for an old fashioned or making a second for a martini.
;0)
My experience as well. The times I’ve bought them (cutwater Mai Tais have the ABV of a glass of wine) I add to them. Otherwise, it’s a drink to be poured over ice cubes in a tall glass and drunk like, well, a big glass of wine over ice. Not really a serious Mai Tai, but enjoyable in its own way. I’m too old to be looking to get hammered - I do, however, appreciate a well crafted cocktail - to be savored.
We had the range of Cutwater canned cocktails recently for convenience at a beach party.
I thought they were pretty bad out of the can – too strong, too sharp.
We were discussing the problem later, and it struck me that the issue was the lack of ice. If we had poured the margaritas or the mai tais or the mule over ice in a glass, the melt would have mellowed the drink just enough to be good. Maybe some slices of lime or lemon would have helped too.
But that would have defied the whole point in our case.
If the point was ready to drink and no glass to break, I go pretty much everywhere with a Yeti full of ice water. It keeps the cubes pretty much all day despite refills.
We had over 100 people, maybe 40 of them had a drink or two. Too many Yetis to supply
Kind of ironic, given the brand name.
You got that right! I do, however, recommend them for your household. I go for RTIC coolers to save money, but being DW friendly gives the Yeti mugs an edge in my opinion.
I know, right
Several people had tried them before and liked them, but I think it was in a home setting with ice and finishing touches available.
At least for the Cutwater mai-tais, ice is essential. They really aren’t nearly as high an ABV as an actual mai-tai - I like to think of them as Mai-tai adjacent. But over ice, they’re pleasant to sip. And “real” mai-tais are served over ice, after all.
