Carnegie Diner?

I think so: GOOD EATS NYC 2024 (A Blanket Thread) - #821 by fooddabbler

I’m an idiot. (It took me some months to realize that. We idiots are slow. You’re, of course the @BKeats who alerted me to that taco/birria truck in the first place.)

There has been discussion upthread of whether the newish Carnegie Diner was living off the fame(ish) of the deli that once bore that name. Turns out that there’s another institution in the nbd that also bears that name (who knew?):

We know people who lived in Winston-Salem, NC. They were invited to go to a restaurant named “Bernadin’s” and were adamant that this was the sibling of LeB in NYC. We had a minor tiff about this which prompted me to call LeB and ask; you can imagine the answer I received.

Fun fact: Le Bernadin isnt even a sibling to Le B in NYC. That one is the non-afilliated rebranded Beatrice Inn.

Siestema went to the Carnegie Diner in K-Town and dubbed it “maybe the worst pastrami sandwich in the city.” He did say their pastrami dog (made with corned beef of course) was pretty great but to my eye looks pretty terrible, though admittedly it’s exactly the kind of thing I used to order (and regret) three sheets to the wind.

Best,
