Bodega

I had lunch at Bodega today.

Menus:

To drink, I had a Vietnamese iced coffee ($6), which was good but quite sweet.

DRY HU TIEU ($I9)
Shrimp, Chicken, Ground Pork, Fishcake, Garlic Maggi, Side of Chicken Broth
For food, I had the dry hu tieu. I suspect this may be an homage to the #25 “dry” at the now closed Ha Nam Ninh on Larkin in the Tenderloin, which was great bowl of noodles. A picture of that can be found here. It had fish cake, seasoned ground pork, chicken shreds, grilled shrimp, garlic chives, and cucumber slices on top of thin rice noodles. It had a sauce similar to what I remember at Ha Nam Ninh that had Maggi sauce in it. I wet the noodles a little with a splash of broth and seasoned it with some of the dark sauce. The noodles were a tad bit overcooked and sticking to each other but they came apart with a little broth. Overall, this was a very satisfying bowl of noodles. The toppings were all very good - the ground pork was nicely seasoned, and the shrimp were grilled rather than boiled. The fish cake was very good. The side of broth was good as well and nice to sip on between bites.
