What do you put on toast?
Blue crab with lemon aioli and jalapeños. But only when I want to be fancy.
Cream cheese and trout roe, squeeze of lemon.
Cream cheese & sliced, still warm HBE.
Sautéed mushrooms with melted taleggio.
Strammer Max (ham, cheese, fried egg).
Peanut butter is a favorite topping of mine.
Hummus
Mayo and tomato
Ricotta cheese
Crushed fruit like peaches
Chopped liver
Chopped egg
Got some fava beans cued up to mash.
Fried egg. I love fried egg sammiches.
BLTs and club sammiches. Always welcome!
Butter and cinnamon sugar, and I think of my late Mom, who always made cinnamon toast and tea for me when I was sick.
I LOVE avocados. I have never had avocado toast.
(slinking back into my unsophisticated corner. I’m such a heathen.)
I still make creamed tuna with peas and chopped hard-boiled egg to eat on toast. Comfort food from childhood.
Also from childhood, toast with butter and cinnamon sugar (best cut into soldiers and dunked in hot chocolate).
And yet a third, also from childhood - buttered toast torn into pieces mixed in a bowl with poached eggs, S&P to taste. Usually when I’m under the weather, with a cup of tea.
During my UG, between paychecks, I figured out that $3 in “seconds” bread and discount store eggs would make 20 sandwiches for the week - or three per day over the week minus one day at 2 sandwiches, dining on my upper lip for that day.
