Newish spot offering Mexico City style tacos and tortas.
I chose Chambarete (shank) en Salsa Morita, Tinga de Pollo (I love tinga, but what made me choose it was that the lady at the counter said it was her favorite), and Pollo en Mole Verde. Almost added a mushroom one as well, but this was post Carnitas Ramirez (and a palate cleanser pause for a cookie at Clinton St Baking Co), so I “controlled” myself lol.
Excellent flavors in all, and the accompaniments too – the pickled white onion, especially, completed every single taco perfectly. The chamberete was very rich in both flavor and texture, the mole verde was delicious, the tinga was too mild for me (but that may have been intentional?).
They make their tortillas to order, which is pretty special, but also makes the tortillas very tender and prone to falling apart (first time I have understood the double tortilla in street tacos). I might go with a torta next time, so soak up the stewy goodness.
