Best Electric Kettle 2025 – Need Help Choosing Between Two Options

Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking for a new electric kettle for my kitchen and honestly didn’t expect it to be this hard to decide. My old one finally stopped working last month, so I started reading reviews to figure out what’s worth buying now.
I’ve gone through articles on New York Times Wirecutter, CNET, and Lifewire, plus scrolled through a bunch of cooking forums and Reddit threads. After all that, I’ve noticed the same two kettles keep coming up again and again in people’s recommendations.
Here are the two I’ve shortlisted (both I found linked on a Wirecutter article about top kettles):

  • Electric Stainless Steel Kettle Link here (www.amzn.to/3HlmvOL)
  • Cosori Electric Kettle Link here (www.amzn.to/4mqf2gk)
I’m not here to promote anything, just trying to make a smart choice after doing a lot of reading. Both seem to have really solid reviews one heats water a bit faster, the other has better temperature control for tea/coffee.

If anyone here has used either of these, which one would you go for? I make tea daily and sometimes need hot water for cooking, so speed and durability are important.

Both have tons of reviews and features look amazing, I just need your help to decide which is the better one for long-term use. Thanks in advance.

Whatever Amazon lists as its “Amazon’s own,” or whatever they call it, has been working just fine for me for years now. I have the 1L version. I think it was maybe $15.

I also only have a cheapish Bosch one, which matches the toaster. It is only a kettle and really not worth getting fussed over. Toss a coin if you can’t decide.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

I’ve been using this cheap Ovente Electric Kettle I got at Walmart. Current price is $13.50
Electric Kettle

I wasn’t expecting much for that price, but this thing is a work horse. Been using it for a while, no problems nor issues.

Sunshine wanted the pink one – so…

Thanks

I have that Cosori kettle and I’m really happy with it; the water heats quickly and it’s fun to watch. I bought it in January to replace an older Amazon Basics 1L model - partly for the larger capacity and partly for an easier experience with filling it. On the Cosori, the lid opens all the way, which wasn’t the case for the AB model I had, and appears to be the case for the one you linked. Filling the AB kettle directly from the fridge dispenser made a mess!

I found a Cuisinart electric kettle at Home Goods for $50 last Christmas time and I love it.

It looks like this but in cream.

I got it for the adjustable temps for pour over and occasional French press coffee and various types of tea. It’s the perfect size for me, too. I didn’t need a huge one since I’m limited on counter space. I use reverse osmosis water in it so I don’t need to descale and it tastes great. Temperatures are in 5 degree increments except last goes from 205 to 212F. When I first got it I measured each temp with my thermapen, only the lowest temps were off by a couple of degrees cooler and it’s been very good. I hope it lasts. I was looking for a glass one but I think this is fine. Also, I’m brewing my tea sometimes in a glass wide lid tea pot I had acquired from my parents’ that i think is much better than my original idea of brewing in an electric kettle. It’s very easy to work with. If you’re near a Home Goods or TJ Maxx and Marshalls, start checking them out, you never know what you can find.
