Bays English muffins

I normally buy Thomas’ English muffins, but I’m trying Bays, based on the enthusiastic HO recs. They’re sold refrigerated, but do I need to keep them that way? Thanks.

Yes… package says keep refrigerated.

I’ve seen them once, bought them, and they were OK; I wasn’t transported. I miss the “old” Thomas’. I just bought a muffin splitter. I will attempt to recreate the old fork-split texture of a Thomas’. But the flavor has also changed.

Bays do not have deep enough nooks.

I freeze them once I get them home - unless you eat them pretty quickly they dry out in the fridge. They thaw enough to separate while I drink my first cup of tea. I like the sourdough ones. Still looking for really great English muffins though - probably need to be homemade.

We discovered Bays last year at a small family grocer and haven’t gone back to Thomas’. I do think Thomas’ changed for the worse. We like the sturdiness and longevity of Bays kept refrigerated and they are often the only bread we have in the house. We use them as toast for breakfast, to make breakfast egg sandwiches and tuna melts, we like them as “buns” for hamburgers. We normally buy the original ones for their versatility but also like the cinnamon raisin variety too.

(We’re a household of 2 and not big bread eaters…)

Yes, refrigerate. The sourdough are my favorite.
