With all due respect, bats are anything but rats. Rats are true omnivores…they can live off of leaded paint. Bats are much more fragile and are essentially harmless, save for little things like this. I try to lure bats. I’d never wish to lure one dang rat. Had them in my garage for a spell. Dead, all of them. Roaches rodentified, they are.
Rabies a worry? Try coronaviruses…
Interesting.
They’re back! There’s “evidence” in several places, but nothing beats this one, firmly ensconced in our bat barrier!
It was brought to my attention by our “pest management” guy, who noted “bats really like” my home. And there’s nothing they can do as long as they stay outside.
For the record, this is the area behind my house, including a seasonal stream where the trees cluster, and a pool or three.
There’s also a few King Palms near the front yard, and I think bats are known to hang out in the fronds.
I had one ‘sleepover’ yesterday on one of the exterior beams of our home, way up high where no one can get to it. I figure it was hung over. This is the time of year (as the temps get warmer >40°F at night) they hang out at night at our place in several spots on the house. I hear them click outside the bedroom windows in the early evening. As long as they keep the mosquitos down, I’m okay with them. The cats like to sit on the window sills and watch them fly around.
I can see how too many might be nuisance, but I can’t help it - I find them adorable!
