As @GretchenS, as always wise beyond their tender years, observed:
They’re right. Let’s start the ring rolling. First, the thread on which @GretchenS posted:
Next, of the bagels I discussed in my post that old thread, most still exist, I’ve other food on my plate in the near future, but I’ll try to get to them soon.
I think the new Pop Up Bagel in Seaport is worth a mention. Limited flavors, but all in service of getting a warm bagel. Since I’m generally a plain bagel (maybe wheat, sometimes with some oat) eater, this works for me.
We love Bagelsaurus and actually picked up a dozen this weekend to take to friends hosting us for a ski weekend. They were very well received!
Around the holidays, we missed the Bagelsaurus ordering deadline and got Iggy’s instead, which I thought were not nearly so good. (Iggy’s rolls, however, are a mandatory inclusion at all holidays per the extended family!) Mamaleh’s smoked salmon was excellent, as always.
I’m eager to hear of other recs around - I’ve got two cipollini who will consume their body weight in bagels.
Any thoughts on Brooklyn Bagel Factory on Hampshire St in Cambridge? I pass it on my way to work and am often curious but, to be frank, the lack of customers at the prime morning hour makes me hesitant and I haven’t stopped yet.
I’m fairly useless on this thread except in an historical sense. However, if one is looking for gluten free bagels, the frozen ones sold at Mamaleh’s are by far the best I’ve found. They are not made in house and I’m not at home to check the brand, but they are definitely not sold at any supermarket in the area. They are made from “gluten free wheat.” No idea what sort of sorcery is involved in this, but I approve.
