August trip to New York City

Seconded.

I just stare menacingly at anyone not wearing a mask indoors. I take mine off outside, unless I’m in a crowd.

Welcome! Have a great time, and let us know what you ate.

Have a wonderful time and all my best wishes for good weather … and a safe trip.

I’ll be back with a few details.

from L’ Addresse. Very accommodating our fluctuating party size. Great time was had by all!

Nice! And convenient to your hotel, yes?

Sometimes I think the former has everything to do with the latter!

Enjoy! The weather is great for now - hope it sticks for most of your visit!

We went with what we could walk to today.

The first was with paccheri with a pork rib sauce, which husband enjoyed. al dente. I had the second one; an cavatelli with shellfish. It was alright.

We got deserts (Delizia Al limine; a sponge cake in limoncello, and Pastiera Napoletana, a cheesecake, to go.

Also Pinot Grigio for me, and lemonade for the hubs. Not to go.

And stopped here for cake on the way home!

Chelsea market

I normally avoid the Chelsea Market because it’s so crowded. Right now it looks actually pleasant.

How many more meals do you need suggestions for? Sakagura isn’t that far from your hotel. It’s one of my favorite izakayas in NY. Amazing sake list if such things interest you. Have you made it to Brooklyn yet? If you are in Dumbo one of my favorite lunch spots is Superfine. Really funky atmosphere with good food. Nothing fancy but always hits the spot for me.

Probably 2 more lunches, two more dinners, but hopefully some grazing on street food without reservations. So far we’ve been sticking with walking distance. On our way to Obao in Hell’s kitchen shortly. After Chelsea we walked High Line to Little Spain or similar in Hudson Yard.

Smelled good but not much going on at 5. We hope to go back. Thanks @Barca et al !

Drunken noodles

Crab fried rice

SPARE RIBS WITH HONEY TAMARIND GLAZE

ROASTED DUCK NOODLES
Oops! No picture. Looked like drunken noodles.

Vietnamese Pork chops

All as good as or better than home, but take out or take out, no distancing to speak of, and no real health requirements. I know. No piling on please.

This joint (city) is jumping, but not as much as it can.

Obao is a very popular and reliable pre-theatre (not that that’s a thing again - yet) option. I take it they didn’t have an outdoor option.

ETA: I didn’t realize they had an Eastside location.

Haha, oh too many years of delivery familiarity there…I like pure thai cookhouse too if you’re in the area again, like it more than obao tbh! fun stuff in that area. (sorry for the late recommendation!)

And RIP Pam.

Yes; so many bakeries! I forgot the picture of the waffles.

Also, it was supposed to say eat in or take out, no outdoor option. Outdoors would have been very noisy, busy, and perhaps as crowded!

Any Astoria lunch suggestions? Near the Broadway stop of the N or W.

Indeed. Ever since they closed, Viv and Obao became my midtown standbys for Vietnamese/Thai. But I still miss Pam!

Greek! Not sure who has outdoor dining, but there are several good Greek restaurants around that stop (Amylos, Bahari, Aliada).
