Alternatives or copycat recipe for Crosse & Blackwell Seafood Cocktail Sauce?

Thanks for this. Are you saying the Heinz and Legal brands won over the C&B?

No, C&B bottled wasn’t in the running since it’s not available - unlabeled on a plate it still was husband’s first choice until I made the"rules" clear. It just served as a reference point and the Heinz and Legal brands were deemed “at least as good as”.

My 3-day-old homemade/copycat version of C&B, however, was soundly and appropriately defeated. Freshly made, it was good. The flavors mutated when stored the way I did – reusing the plastic ketchup bottle emptied during the assembly. YMMV

The problem with finding a taste that you love, the others pale by comparison.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we each taste some ingredient more than the others in the Crosse & Blackwell Cocktail Sauce. I also think the recipe was complex enough, that it appealed to a variety of tastes.

This is the best home mixture that I’ve created so far. After putting some of the New England Cocktail Sauce on my plate, I add several drops of the fish sauce and mixed well. Very close, but still hoping that Smuckers will put the Crosse & Blackwell Sauce back on the shelf.
