Great read, thanks!

i wish I had a gas station near me like this. (Actually, there are a couple in Houston but not near me). No mention of whether the townspeople come in for food?
We’ve had a couple of other posts with similar stories I think. I remember one about Sikh place in Oklahoma or New Mexico.
There needs to be a website with these marked on a map (I suspect there is one somewhere, in Punjabi!) so we can do a road trip to visit them. We’re going to be driving around in Texas next spring and this would be an interesting counterpoint to all the barbecue we plan to eat!

There’s a map on one of the earlier threads
Yet another article on trucker dhabas, this one from IndiaCurrents. I read the NYT piece several years ago and forced a lunch stop at a dhaba in Indiana on route from DC to Chicago. It was the first summer of covid so we took our food to go and ate at a rest stop a couple of miles down the road. My sons were appalled - why can’t we eat at normal places, mom??? - but thanked me once we dug in. Very tasty food. Sadly, most of the dhabas seem to be nowhere near my normal routes.
I could not figure out how to post the map URL!
Here it is and thanks! Sadly, nothing along our TX route but I do see one just an hour away in Hammond, LA!

Aha! Share link. You’re welcome!
New article on a Wyoming punjabi dhaba / truck stop:
I just looked at the U.S. Highway Punjabi Dhabas Google map and it needs updating. My absolute favorite, Spice Hut (a few hundred feet off I-75 in Lenoir City, TN) is not included! That one was my own find as of summer 2024, and revisited on another road trip in summer 2025. Highly recommended. It is definitely catering to the Indian-immigrant demographic–there are items on their menu that I’ve never seen outside India, but which are very common there.
