For the freshest crab at $10 a lb from San Francisco off the boat sales Pier 45 and Pier 47. I believe he’s part of a pilot program using experimental crab traps that can avoid entanglements with whales, which is why he’s able to offer crab after the commercial crab season is over in CA.

Its interesting that they are selling at lower prices than others, because the experimental traps if they are the same ones as the ones i saw in the Seymour Marine Discover Center at UC Santa Cruz, use a signal triggers the trap to start floating up towards the surface at something like a 98% success rate. The cost should be higher than those caught using the traditional traps.
