It was Yay! for the papadum snack chip samples, until a few minutes later when the minute crumbs wedged between my teeth like spackle. It took maybe 15 minutes for them to clear out. Maybe Yay! if you have a toothbrush handy.
Meh on the dealchoholized apple cider in cans.
Does Trader Joe’s ever have a good dairy-free ice cream? I usually buy Ben & Jerry’s but sometimes go without when I’ve only gone to TJ’s. Seems like they have only a couple and not very interesting flavors.
Yes, their chocolate coconut based non-dairy ice cream is very good IMO. The chocolate works well with the slight hint/taste of coconut. They use to carry strawberry but wasn’t as good, so they dropped it.
Thanks. I don’t think I’ve seen that one in my area. It’s often disconcerting that some of their stores don’t get what others do. Happens more than I’d like.
That happens with papad
Worth it ![]()
I love them in restaurants. Even without a toothbrush.
Huge NAY on the Torres alcohol-removed wines. The red literally tastes like vinegar and the sparkling rose is very sweet. Shania is much better for alcohol removed sparkling.
I’ll match that with a huge NAY on Natureo de-alcoholized grenache-syrah. I like Spanish garanchas and grabbed a bottle. The “de-alcoholized” label was small and in a light color, so I didn’t see it until I opened the bottle and thought something was seriously wrong with the wine. Adding a glug of vodka didn’t help at all.
Also a nay on some kind of de-alcoholized cider I tried–I didn’t note the name and I threw away the can. Not much point to it.
That’s the same wine from Torres. ![]()
Heh, the “Torres” label at the bottom of my bottle was also in that light print that I didn’t notice when I looked at the bottle before posting.
Has anyone tried the burrata with black truffle?
i grabbed one by mistake. Thought I was getting cthe mozzarella balls in brine and oops
I’m not really a burrata gal. Wondering the best way to use it up
I love burrata and almost prefer it over regular mozzarella. I’ve not had the black truffle kind (are bits of truffle part of the brine, or?) & wouldn’t know what to do with that, either ![]()
I found the grapeseed oil finally! Thanks @Aubergine
The package says the truffle is in the creamy center
The use by date is a few weeks out When we are ready for pizza again I might use it on the arugula and prosciutto pie in place of the fresh mozzarella
Yea: Frozen cheese blintzes. I had a blintz craving, and these worked fine. The filling’s a little sweeter than I’d prefer, but not immensely so, and they heat and brown nicely in a skillet. It’s just a plastic tray in a box, so demands a bit of repackaging before they go back in the freezer, though.
Yea: Frozen chicken sausage patties. Typical breakfast sausage seasoning, and thin enough that they heat through over several minutes in a skillet.
Yea: No-boil lasagne noodles. These are pretty equivalent to Barilla. The only ding was that they are slightly curved, which makes fitting them into the pan and including enough sauce around them slightly awkward, depending on what else you’re putting in the lasagne.
Yeah: Dark chocolate-covered pretzels. Are these new? I didn’t recall seeing them before (there’s a milk chocolate version, too). They’re in a fairly sizable bag. Thicker and better-quality chocolate than most. Too much of a yea, in fact; I’ll have to avoid buying these in future.
I generally find burrata a bit too wet for pizza, but I hope it works out! That’s a nice combo with arugula and brashoot!
Those are on pretty regular rotation in my house. They go great with some Creamy Dreamy Hummus. And yeah, they do leave a little bit of residue, but nothing a sip or two of beverage can’t eliminate. Great product, IMO!
Tentative YEA for the new pistachio spread. The ingredient list is good. Very high calorie count, which is to be expected for something made of nuts, sugar, and oil. I enjoyed it on a Ritz – it’s a little bit muted/subtle compared to artificial pistachio flavor, of course. I’m using some in some blondies, and it would also work as the basis for a Dubai Chocolate filling.
I (even if subconsciously) consider how something looks when deciding on a purchase. I would never consider purchasing that… at least from that picture, and I’m assuming in r/l.
