These Owl butter cookies are cute

there are a couple earlier threads with some Owl content.
Bunny chow can be really good. Being married to a South African means hanging out with lots of Saffas, and we know a husband & wife team who make a great bunny.
Super Bowl dinner (to be eaten apres game, since it starts at 3:30 here) will be the usual chili and cornbread.
I was making a double entendre since Bad Bunny will perform at half time. If I make Bunny Chow for Super Bowl Sunday, it will be a half decent ‘Bad Bunny’ Bunny Chow.
Oh, I know.
But they’re still good.
I’ve been going back and forth and back and forth and back and forth as to what to make on Sunday.
This morning I said to myself “Self? Just stop at MB on the way home from work and get some wings. and coleslaw makings and call it good.”
A few minutes later, I said to myself "Don’t be an idiot, Self! You have a freezer full of food downstairs - “SHOP THE FREEZER!”
So I’ll probably pull some country-style pork ribs and go that route. Will still stop at MB tonight (won’t go near there tomorrow - did that once when the Patriots were in the SB and I learned my lesson…it’s like a Snowmageddon is about to happen!) and get some coleslaw mix, and maybe make a couple of deviled eggs.
Patriots playoff/SB is generally 5 French Toast Alert level supermarket craziness. I have to make a Costco run Sunday morning, and I know I’m asking for it, but it’s the only day that works for my ride (sis). I’m hoping the bitter sub-zero windchills might scare anyone away.
I’ve done a BJ’s and MB run on a Sunday before a Patriots SB, and I slapped myself saying WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?
Shwings loosely based on the SE method. I think my PIC may have been a lil heavy-handed with the salt ![]()
Sauces helped, but I won’t be getting my wedding band off for a day ![]()
Guac don’t need no recipe — just common sense, experience, and personal preferences.
Blue cheese dip for the carrots & celery courtesy of my PIC.
Lastly, wonderfully tart margaritas to go with the guac & chips.
Ha, you know it wasn’t that bad. When we first arrived (noon-ish), it looked a little crazy, but we must have caught all the early birds wrapping up their Costco runs. The end of the storm might have brought on a little panic and shoppers went there early. Thankfully, we were not interested in SB foods - I was looking for Lunar New Year goodies! Place was relatively light by 12:30pm, and it was the fastest check out I’ve ever had.
Sadly, I have nothing else to contribute to SB foods, since it’s often more of a non-event for me.
