We stopped in to check it out this afternoon. Picked up some pastries, calamansi soda, pork and kimchi frozen dumplings and Acme Nova salmon - lol. The place was crazy busy and they limited people going in so there was a wait to get in (we got lucky with only a few people ahead of us but the line went around the store about two minutes later). I would recommend waiting for the crowds to die down a bit, or go on a weekday.

FYI these dumplings are really good - flavorful filling with thin wrappers.

I don’t know anything about this place, but if you find yourself in the Stonestown Mall food court…

The meat looks quite promising and we will try it. What is missing (at least based on the Yelp pics) is the right bread. A good doner isn’t served as a wrap but in a pide /pita bread similar to the pic at the top

My daughter, friends and I are so impressed by his Pistachio Baklava. Today my daughter preordered two trays as gifts. So pricey, $65 per tray. You can buy a tray of 12 for $27. (I think the Pistachio is way superior to the Walnut!) they were still very warm!

Hang Ten Hawaiian Cajun in Alameda on Santa Clara near Park.

The first time I bought a tray I thought it was pricey, but now I think that’s only because I rarely buy full trays of baklava. The big trays work out to less than $2 per piece, which seems reasonable to me for the quality of these.

The pieces are teeny tiny! It’s really special but I can’t afford to repeat. I’ll just have it if my daughter splurges.

True - it’s hard to limit yourself to just one!

It’s one mouthful and I have a small mouth. Definitely a luxury.

Ezra Wallach in the SF Standard:

Because of new tariffs, the prices of cork from Portugal, oak barrels from France and glass bottles from China and Mexico will rise for California wineries.

From KQED Forum 88.5 FM radio -

Wall Street breathed a sigh of relief Wednesday when President Trump backtracked and announced a 90-day pause on the sweeping tariffs he unveiled last week, dropping the duty rate to 10% for most countries. But it’s little reprieve for California farmers who export crops like almonds and pistachios to China. Trump has raised the taxes on imports from China to 125%, and further retaliatory tariffs from China are expected to follow. The California almond industry alone lost nearly $900 million from the trade war with China in Trump’s first term. We’ll check in with farmers and an economist on the ongoing turmoil’s effects on the agriculture industry, nationwide and here in California. And we’ll hear what it all could mean for your grocery prices.

I used to shop there once a week, sometimes more, for the best curated, small batch goodies. Two favorites, the Opera Cake from Grace and the curried chicken salad from ? remain in the ‘remember the best’ vault. I’d park maybe two or three blocks away and explore the other shops, too. Before Market Hall moved in ‘Such A Business’ and the ‘Edible Complex’ were favorites for spending time at. Long gone but not forgotten.

Recreational ocean salmon season opens June 7 -

The 2025 recreational ocean salmon season dates for the California coast are as follows:

For ocean waters between the Oregon/California state line and the U.S/Mexico border, the season will open June 7-8, with a 7,000 Chinook summer harvest guideline. If the limit is not attained in those two days, the fishery will open again July 5-6. Additional dates are available in late July and August for use until the summer harvest guideline is attained.

The story says Wild Boar Farms is in Sacramento now! Last I’d heard was either Napa or Suisun.
