My favorite BBQ sauce!

I used to eat ribs at the Fruitvale location. Sometimes in Berkeley too.

This is in our old hood and we still spend a lot of time eating in this neighborhood when we go to Bay Area (Zotts! Amigos Grill! Dutch Goose!) so I’m excited to have some new flavor profiles. They have a restaurant in Palo Alto that is supposed to be excellent.

Low salmon numbers in California could prompt shutdown of fishing for a record third straight year

from AOL/LATimes -

The fishing season typically runs from May to October, and in recent years the state’s commercial salmon fishing fleet has numbered about 460 vessels, Artis said. But many boat owners and crew members have recently turned to other work to make ends meet. Some have put their boats up for sale.

“A lot of the guys right now are basically doing land jobs because the fishery has just been devastated,” said George Jue, a commercial fisherman at Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay.

Aydea opens with Eastern Russian Tatar food at 5801 Geary, Outer Richmond SF -

There’ll be some additions to this restaurant that fans won’t find at the SoMa spot. Uchpuchmak, a hand pie commonly made with meats including lamb and goose, do numbers at Aydea. That’s matched by the restaurant’s house-made duck prosciutto. Some menu items are making the jump: Huge pelmeni dumplings, 72-hour chicken broth, and Dumesnil’s time-tested mashed potatoes are all on the menu, too. There’ll be brunch at the Geary Boulevard outpost with a new item debuting, the Tatar breakfast of numerous items compiled a la English breakfast, alongside standbys like the zang madame, a Tatar-riff on a croque madame. Twice a week the restaurant will open for dinner, too. Everything is still seed oil-free, still all-organic.

The Station in Bezerkeley had the very best fried 'choke hearts, and this was in the mid 70’s. Everything there was good.

We always stopped at the Giant Artichoke in Castroville for the fried hearts. So good, and they’re still in business!
