Celebrate Mardi Gras in Oakland with Our Fat Tuesday Dishes & Desserts
Sweet and savory treats from our kitchen & bakery
Our Muffuletta Sandwich will be available in the grab-and-go sandwich case.
It’s time yet again for our annual Fat Tuesday menu. Mardi Gras means “Fat Tuesday” in French, referring to the practice of eating rich foods before the fasting season of Lent. Our delicious New Orleans-inspired dishes are worthy of the festive celebration. And this year, to let the good times roll a little longer, we’re offering the Fat Tuesday menu over two days instead of one.
On Monday, Mar. 3 through Tuesday, Mar. 4. stop in to try:
- Muffuletta Sandwich (pictured)
- Jambalaya Hush Puppies with Spicy Remoulade
- Fried Wild Louisiana Flounder with Tartar Sauce
- Coleslaw
- Red Beans & Rice
- Bourbon Pecan Bread Pudding
New Orleans-style King Cake will be available this weekend through Fat Tuesday.
King cake heralds Mardi Gras season. Taking our cue from Louisiana, Market Hall Bakery is offering their New Orleans-style King Cake starting on Saturday, Mar. 1. These icing and colorful sugar-coated twisted pastry dough rings are filled with a lemony cream cheese filling. King cakes traditionally contain a trinket—the person who finds it in their slice gets a prize or is named “king” for the day. So that you and your guests can get in on the fun, we include a baby figurine made from sugar to hide inside your cake before serving.
Mardi Gras King Cake is available at Market Hall Bakery Saturday, Mar. 1 through Fat Tuesday, Mar 4.

Tonight we celebrated at House of Prime Rib. 3 of us ordered well done and meat was super dry. Next time we’ll get medium well. There was one order of fresh wild salmon and the piece was a smaller portion than 2 years ago.
Five people, no drinks, no dessert, $400 + tip.
For dessert my daughter brought the most incredibly delicious pistachio baklava from this new place, best ever, very pricey of course. Not too sweet, just perfect.
