A handful of beans. Yellow, purple and green, but the yellow are earliest.

I’m so excited about these baby melons!

They should be pink, yellow, and orange, all ice box size. (Tiger Baby, Yellow Baby and New Orchid)

Wow, your leaves are so beautiful (of course, the fruits too). I’ve tried to grow sweet melon, it was difficult in our region (not sunny enough), the leaves were yellowish and only 1 fruit and taste was so so.

I’m having a pretty good year, at least with regard to foliage!

Lucky you! I’m on the opposite end of that spectrum. Something is eating my leaves to a degree I’ve never seen before! Must be the combination of our warm winter and a wet spring. My semi-wild Thai basil plants have had all their leaves stripped bear. And my makrut lime and pepper plants have been targeted too.

Sorry to hear that! Have you tried anything?

By the way, the nature melon pictures are not mine!

I haven’t yet. I suspect they are Japanese beetles because I’ve seen a lot of them the last 2-3 weeks. I noticed some chewing, but they seem to have really gone berserk the last month only, so it ate all the basil before I even realized it! I’ve noticed chewing on the other leaves, but normally I’ll see some and then it dies off, and my plants have normal leaves the rest of the season. This is the first year where I’ve seen it persist into this late in the summer. By the time I noticed this happening more regularly, we were already in the flowering and blooming season, so I’ve been reluctant to apply any insecticides (even organic ones) that might detract the bees from visiting.

Same thing. Poblano pepper plant and most of my basil plants chewed back to the veins. Never had the basil attacked like this. Chewing at all in the lettuce patch and minor chewing on arugula (maybe it wasn’t appealing?). I did try some diatomaceous earth with no apparent results.

Wow! We don’t have them here, but I’ve seen them when visiting North Carolina. They are pretty intimidating.

I gave some minor chewing, and I saw a grasshopper. I was thinking of trying DE, but need to check if it works on them. I shouldn’t wait long though, it could easily turn into a swarm of locusts! We don’t need ANOTHER plague.

BB makrut limes :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I have a few new blossoms, so might get a few more. This is pre-hurricane force winds blowing through today. I had to move my plant into the garage just to keep it safe. :expressionless:

And post-hurricane winds… Look who came to shield himself from the crazy winds and rain in one of my pepper plants. Was wondering why a pepper had sprouted antennae, and then I walked around and saw what it was…

And then, Isaias. My poor basil.

The kale and oregano are apparently indestructible, however. And the tomatoes and peppers are hangin’ in there.

My peppers are all veering to the left right now. Let’s hope they get through tonight’s winds, and hopefully they’ll straighten up tomorrow.

My plants are on a 5th floor balcony, so I can drag the big pots to the back or against the wall (which helps somewhat), and put the smaller pots (which are usually on patio tables) on the floor. The herbs and lettuces are in window boxes tied to the railing, though, so they’re on their own. A fair amount of destruction on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This is in the front yard of our apartment building:

Good luck to all facing the wrath Isaias - thoughts are with you through this storm.

The melons are adorable @shrinkrap, envious, as they are a no go for our area - not hot enough. Maybe a greenhouse would help, or reflective panels of some sort.

The makrut limes are way cute as well - I DO want one of those trees but would need to garage it or bring indoors for the winter.

I’ll be posting a pepper relish recipe tonight @shrinkrap is interested in, since others may enjoy too.

Posted the pepper jam recipe on the BLT salad thread. Forgot I was gonna put it here. Had oral surgery today, so am blaming THAT :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
