za za pizza magoun square somerville

i live in the neighborhood, and was concerned when pini’s was forced out (to medford) that there would be no place where i could grab a quick slice.

was delighted to find that pini’s replacement, za za pizza, sells slices. a bit more expensive than pini’s, $5.00 (including tax) for a 1/4 pie, which, unlike pini’s, they cut into 2 slices. the crust is more a flatbread; very crunchy and excellent flavor.(pini’s was a more traditional crust.)

not sure how za za is connected to premier, but both times i’ve been, i sat outside and they brought my order out, along with a big glass of water. the servers are helpful and friendly.

inside, things are laid out like pini’s — a few stools at the counter facing the the street, open kitchen — but considerably spiffier.
