Your typical take-out order : Thai, Mexican, Pizza, you name it

Ooooooo, love custard. Makes the best cones and shakes, IMO.

There are a couple of “I don’t feel like cooking” defaults we tend toward:

1- cheap sushi. A typical commodity level rolls with lots of fake crab and sauces, it’s a quick two min drive (or even a reasonable walk if it’s nice out) and we get the equiv. of sushi junk food: fake crab + avocado with salmon on top, the same with tuna on top, and another with unagi. all with some sort of sauce that isn’t needed, but whatever. it’s tasty. it’s cheap.

2- American Chinese. We used to have a regular spot but it closed :(. Typical order is a general chicken over rice, for me, (sometimes Shrimp/walnut if available) The partner will get a kung pao or chicken/vegetable chow fun. And Rangoons/crab puffs/cream cheese wontons/ whatever they’re called.

There’s a local Fish and Chips place where a 2 pc w/ fries will comfortably feed both of us.

On rare occasions the partner will have a taste for McDonalds, in which case it’s a QP Deluxe w/ Cheese w fries and a sprite , I’ll get a Filet o fish meal with fries and a frozen coke because I love me a slushie…

The usual thai order for ‘generic thai place’ is Shrimp pad thai for me, drunken noodle w/ chicken for her.

i started ordering one captain’s platter with an extra fillet of fish for 3 of us, because 1 order of fish and chips/ 1 captain’s platter (1 fish fillet , 2 fried shrimp, 2 fried oysters and 2 fried scallops and chips) had more than enough chips for all of us. Sometimes I just order the fried fish and fried seafood without the chips, since they don’t travel too well and I don’t need the carbs.

My current take-out order for 2 people at the Keg steakhouse chain is one 14 ounce Prime Rib Classic Dinner with the Caesar Salad option and the baked potato option, a Wedge Salad, an extra baked potato, and a twice- baked potato.

This photo represents my usual “take-out” from Bangkok’s Khlong Toei market.

There are two musts: a swimming pool of chili sauce, and meat.

It’s been a full week of me doing all the cooking.

My last take-out dinner was a slice of Lemonhead pizza from Mac’s Pizza in Toronto on Dec 21st.

I am in the mood for Chinese or Thai take-out tonight.

My take-out order for both Chinese and Thai food has changed over the past 18 months. I have been limiting our order to 2 or 3 dishes.

For Chinese, lately, I alternate between ordering Singapore Vermicelli or trying a fried noodles we have not tried before, and a stir fry or chicken/beef main. Tai Dop Voy is still a favourite, partly because it includes so many things, as is Buddha’s Feast for the same kind of reason. We also still like honey garlic ribs / General Tso chicken / Butterfly Shrimp / Ginger Beef, so I sometimes get sweet and greasy main and go with steamed rice when I do that.

I tried Beef Ho Fun/ Chow Fun for the first time last year, after @medgirl and some others talked about it. We liked it, and I will order it again, to try another resto’s version.

Re: our Thai take-out, I have been craving Pad See Ew, Pad Kra Pao, Panang Curry, Red Curry and Green Mango Salad lately. I usually order 3 dishes, including a mango salad, one fried noodle, and one curry or stir-fry.

I have also changed our pizza order recently. Either a medium or large pizza, with a Caesar salad. After about 6 years of ordering Ontario Deluxe / All Dressed (pepperoni, green pepper and mushroom ), I am leaning towards 3 vegetarian ingredients instead, on our 3- topping pizzas (the standard number of toppings for take-out pizza where I live ) to cut back on my pepperoni and cured meat intake.

The first in this pattern change was a tomato, feta, onion and oregano pizza from Pizza Quest in London, ON
