Reminds me of our own expatriation and repatriation. We slept on air mattresses and ate off of a card table for months til our furniture caught up with us

Not many things my mom made were noteworthy, save for her emergency casserole knowledge. No peek chicken and Polish chop suey were perfect to take to potlucks, and to feed our hungry mouths. Her turkey tetrazzini recipe is one I still use. Other than that, it was round steaks in the electric skillet, or dry baked chicken. She didn’t like to cook. That’s why she loves it when I visit her.
