Yogurt Gelato?

So I’m only 75 and still learning things
Recently published NY Times article about yogurt gelato in Sorrento Italy
I have been to Sorrento & all over Italy I have never heard of yogurt gelato. Didn’t know it’s a thing
Am I just not aware? BTW best gelato I ever had was in Siena Italy saffron gelato a mazing

Near to where we used to stay in Tenerife, there was shop that sold frozen yoghurt, rather than ice cream. It was dispensed from a machine, like a soft serve ice cream. rather than being scooped out of a tub like the firmer set ice creams and frozen yoghurt. It didnt survive Covid.

Technically, yogurt gelato is frozen yogurt, in terms of translation, since gelato means frozen in Italian. I bet Italians do frozen yogurt better than most North Americans do.
