Yamaguchi - Karato Fish Market

Seafood on the menu today. Karato is famous for Fugu (Pufferfish). Especially looking forward to some baby Fugu.

But first, breakfast.

Karato was neat, and barely touristy.
I remember wandering around Shimonoseki thinking “today’s the day for fugu.”
Even the local 7-11s’ had fugu jerky (or some type of dried fugu).
After having that + fugu curry, my tongue definitely felt a bit numb. How about you?

Non-food related question: did you walk in the tunnel to Kyushu?

A fun and delicious day. Fugu is definitely a major draw. We’ve had Fugu a few times, didn’t experience any tingling or numbness.

Some quick raw shots. I’ll post more pictures and descriptions later.

“Even the local 7-11s’ had fugu jerky (or some type of dried fugu).” That may have been dried Fugu Fin. Saw some at the market.

Fugu pics from a dinner in Osaka last year. Flaming Fugu Fin Sake.

Sashimi, Nabe and Grilled.
