Still worth the price . Cost of gas to run the boat . And everything that goes along with the cost . I see it as never going back . Cut out other items when you want to splurge on this luxury item. Good time Charlie has the blues.

other possibilities … day-boat dry packed diver scallops are typically much more $$ than trawler-harvested wet-packed (with additives) scallops, perhaps Costco got ahold of the former vs the latter?
Even if they are the same scallops, there are so many links in the supply chain that may affect pricing and add up along the way. The harvesters, the packers, the distributors, the deliverers and the sellers all have rising labor and materials expenses. And, stuff happens - a warehouse has to close due to a Covid outbreak, a fire at a dairy stops butter production, etc.

If the price of goods rise all buyers (not just end buyers) are impacted irrespective of their means. How much a buyer/consumer cares is a separate matter. The op’s question was reasonable.
