Who's ONION RINGS and FRIES are the best?

Huh, I wouldn’t think pancakes could hold up in a toaster

They do. Or you could pop them on a nonstick skillet to reheat.
I’ve had the best luck with thick, fluffy pancakes in the toaster. Just need about 30 seconds.

Well until they fry their fries in Tallow again, I will pass. Not catering and patronizing toxic oils. Nice try McDonald’s. No Thanks !

P.S. everyone complains about how awful your “baked” apple pies are and says how good they used to be when they were fried in Tallow. Good riddance !

Do you mean you don’t eat cold pancakes?

I love them, especially with warm chocolate nutella. The colder the pancake the better.

How do you warm the Nutella? Hold the jar in your armpit for half an hour?

Hazelnut allergy means no nutella for me. But I suppose they would be good cold with jam. I may have to try this sometime

No, just one hour is enough. Especially if you use the European version

On the way to the weekend place last night we stopped for dinner at a favorite of ours and ordered these

On the way out a table across from ours stopped us and thanked me for ordering the onion rings. I was puzzled at first. When they saw our order come out they were inspired to order some. Told me they were the best onion rings they’ve ever had. Told then I was happy to have helped them out.

Funny how tastes differ, for me BK onion rings are just garbage tier, like there’s some vaguely mushy pureed onion like thing in there but what is it actually? No one knows. I do like their friest though. I don’t recall White Castle onion rings, their fries are standard crinkle which is nice. I put it in the burger for added texture.

As for fast food I feel like McD, BK, and Wendys all have really solid fries. BK and Wendy’s are quite similar now after years of reformulating on BK’s part. I’m not a fan of coated fries, hated when BK had those.

Nathans fries are too soggy. Somehow even their frozen fries come out soggy when fried at home. Why?

@Hungryman8 thanks for starting this thread, all of your discussions are epic and they are the best part of coming to this site these days.

@mts Most of the time 5 guys fries are limp and suck. On the occasion they get it crispy it’s glorious. I don’t know why it’s like that since they cook them on a timer. I believe you can ask to have them well done but I haven’t tried that since my last disappointment.

Thank you for the compliment my friend. I am humbled. Although we differ on certain things like BK onion rings and Nathans fries, I value your input. I just say it as I taste it. Some agree, some don’t and that is just fine. I like Nathans fries because of the taste, and same as BK onion rings. Why they are mushy, I don’t know. But I do buy the frozen Nathans fries. I use the toaster oven to heat them all up. They make for a fantastic “loaded fries” for some reason too. I put on nacho cheese sauce and sometimes also ranch dressing and bacon bits. Delicious they are. You should try White Castle onion rings once. You might like them. In fact I had some last night. Very expensive though for the amount you get. I only go to White Castle with coupons. Their prices are outrageous just like all fast foods.
What I do hate is when certain places fry their onion rings in a beer batter. That just ruins them IMO. I do not like beer and food. Beer is to drink while you cut the lawn, alone and by itself. In-laws have German in them and they cook with beer. That is why I dislike their cooking. I bring my own food when visiting most times lol.

Yes definitely want coupons at any fast food these days. Luckily I have access to some great WC coupons, and the app usually has something good too. I will try the onion rings for sure! I also miss their clam strips, those were pretty good in the best shitty way.

Lol we will have to agree to disagree on cooking with beer!

I never had WC clam strips. I bet they were good. Speaking of clam strips, my cousin used to be a manager in Howard Johnson’s decades ago and he remembers they had excellent clam strips in those days. And he also told me their secret to great clam strips because he had to do the prep work. Howard Johnson’s would soak them in BUTTER overnight. Yup oops I let the cat out of the bag LOL. True facts. Then they would deep fry them to order in lard. All natural goodness. High calorie, but just don’t eat them everyday. Wish I could have experienced those but it was way before my time.

Yes we will have to disagree not a problem. I really don’t like beer. But I drink it when thirsty and hot. Heineken is awful to me. I will drink Coors, Rolling Rock, and the like. Once the in-laws made sauerkraut and sliced potatoes. Both dishes were cooked in beer. How awful yuk. Needless to say I did not enjoy dinner.

Please tell us where those beautiful onion rings came from!
