Instead of Pizzagate we’ve got Biryanigate for this round of the NYC mayoral elections, after the frontrunner dared to eat rice / biryani with his hands in public.
The backlash to the backlash has been somewhat more entertaining (listing of “western” foods that must be eaten by hand, fast food slogans like “finger lickin’ good” and so on).
Anyway, I came across this BBC video, and realized that I had not given much thought to the class / caste implications of how much of the hand is used by different communities in India, had always attributed more to regional difference.
