What's on your mind? (2025) - good way to start... even if a bit early... :-)

:dog2: I’m trying not to be constantly distracted with my brain in the condition it is currently in; it is just the daily mutterings I hear and read.:see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

You Rang??

The CO2 doesn’t expand at freezer temps. Instead it’s actually more soluble in water solutions the colder the solution is, meaning it won’t directly contribute to the expansion. But not after the water freezes. But the CO2 definitely contributes to the final mess.

The water component starts to freeze and water does eventually expand enough to rupture the can. Meanwhile, before it ruptures, the portion of the water not frozen is under more pressure both because the frozen parts have expanded, increasing the pressure, and because the CO2 gets forced out of solution as the water freezes - it’s less soluble then. Which means the remaining unfrozen water now contains more CO2.

Then the can ruptures because of the expanding ice water, and that pressurized and (now) extra-carbonated remaining unfrozen water solution spews forth.

The CO2 getting mostly forced out of the frozen water solution is why if you freeze a beer or coke, then allow to thaw gently, you often still get a lot of CO2 right at the top as you open it, and the bev is a lot flatter than it normally would be.

I sat at my desk giggling to myself. You sound like my coworker - although you’re probably more succinct than he would be on the topic.

Omg.

Glad you got attention quickly.

OMG!!! @Meekah I’m SO glad you got help quickly! BTDT with blood clots. Assuming you’re on a Heparin drip right now while in the hospital (and you’re at one of the best in the country!). Please take care of you and feel better soon! Glad the kitties are being taken care of as well.

Sending wishes for a quick recovery. I can’t believe you’re up to posting after such an event, but the fact that you can is a good thing.

Not fair! Glad to hear you’re on the mend; sending you wishes for a speedy recovery.

I get a heparin shot every eight hours and a baby aspirin in the day everyone has repeatedly stressed to me how impressed they were with me, self diagnosing and getting myself to the hospital quickly. It’s really important to be your own advocate.

:+1::+1::+1: Yup. I hope there are no lasting effects from the stroke and that you’re released soon, and they can work to avoid any future clots with medication.

Problem is my G.I. bleed 2 months ago. - Blood thinners strictly forbidden .

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Hope they’re able to help adjust your diet and whatever else they can to help prevent any additional clots.

I was just about to ask how the food is at Johns Hopkins. The only time I’ve been in the hospital was to give birth at a hospital in a fancy Boston suburb. The food was good! My husband enjoyed himself immensely…had salmon and veggies every night I was there!

Hope you get out of the slammer soon (my dad has been in the hospital multiple times over the years and that’s what I call it). Get well!
