Thank you!
Congratulations on your BF’s job! Excellent news and a very good day, indeed!
I may copy you with the salmon I just picked up
Thanks!
Kashmir is on my mind.
Was flooded with gorgeous and joyful pics and videos from a family wedding there over the weekend only to have news just the next day of terror striking the region yet again.
What a tragedy. My heart goes out to everyone there.
EXCELLENT! Congrats on the BF’s new job!
Thank you!
At least you could re-use the little foil pot pie trays to warm stuff up - in a real oven or toaster oven.
Woohooo! Congrats
Thank you! Very excited for him!
Agreed. And we always used the pot pie ones for water colors from grade school onwards. Had to have the piece of oilcloth that was on the supplies list that required a trip to the fabric store/department to acquire.
I’m not sure we even have a fabric store around here anymore.
Remember the envy of the kids whose parents bought them the 64 pack with the sharpener?
You must be as old as I. Haven’t heard of or seen that in decades.
That was me! I always got the biggest box - except I think it was 48 when I started out.
Ditto. I remember the bright red slickness of it. I also remember using one of my dad’s old dress shirts, worn backwards, as a smock.
And I remember taking one of his good shirts from his closet to use as a smock when I couldn’t find the usual one and mom was on the phone. That particular instance of taking initiative was not recieved well.

I hope you argued that at least you chose a collared shirt.
ETA: in the rare instances that I wear one, the kid asks why I’m “dressed fancy”.
Rediscovered my acoustic guitar tonight. No calluses even remotely to speak of right now, so it was a short reunion (steel strings). But, it is in tune and I revisited several chords and reconfirmed I cannot for the life of me do bar chords. Lots of rosé left and, so far, the neighbors are still speaking to us.
A capo and electric tuner are en route from Amazon for future endeavors.
I have a 1976 Martin D35, in its case, that I look at and shudder. I could play pretty well … once upon a time. Electric tuner??? I suspect there’s a tuning fork in that case. Which was all we boomer shad at the time.
I have three guitars in the house, which is about 1/3 of the chords I can play.
My mother was quite insistent that I take guitar lessons from about age 5, mostly because my aunt had married into a musical family that owned a music store that offered lessons. Her own side of the family was also musical, so it was a continuation of what my grandfather expected from family members. My cousins and I jokingly called it the “dog and pony show”; every holiday, be prepared to perform. My voice is better than my guitar playing (and my comedy stylings better still, but grandpa only wanted the music). I fell away from it after college.
I can tune the guitar with my voice if I get the first low E in place, but it’s nice to have the electric assist
We had many journeyman musicians in the older generations. It was a given that everyone played, or at least took lessons for, some instrument. I was extremely surprised when my grandmother sat down at my piano and played a waltz. There had been no piano in her house that I ever saw. She did teach me harmonica! I did choral singing for years and took some theory classes in college as electives. I simply thought it was part of my education. Now, my banjo. …
