I vote for “ghee cult.”
Even with your “(c’mon)” hint, it took me a second read to get the pun.
That this post immediately follows one about the world’s oldest anus glowing in Florida cannot be a cosmic coincidence.
At Mar a Lago?
You got it Jammy.
What can I say?
Sounds nutty!
Thanks for the belly laugh !
I needed that after following the news!
Nothing quite as satisfying as removing a racist POS from one of my food groups, who lost their mind over my suggestion to support local Black-owned businesses this month.
It’s good to be queen. I mean admin
I’m having NFL withdrawal – I have no desire to watch the Pro Bowl, so I might do some preliminary work on my taxes.
I think I’ve received all of my forms to start playing with the numbers. Maybe I’ll make a draft return to see the results.
I volunteered to bake cake for a big (55 ppl) milestone bday party, the mother of a high school friend I’ve stayed in contact with. I never said or even thought anything about payment and just planned on it being a gift. I volunteered, after all. I’ll be making a bunch of big bundt cakes, about half of them chocolate.
Unfortunately, the price of eggs and butter is just whoa right now. I just did a quick tabulation of what I’ve spent on ingredients so far, and it’s clear my total will be about $100.
I wasn’t thinking about this much at all, until I had a text exchange the other day with my friend and her sister (the ones throwing the party. ) Both live out of town, but are coming in for the weekend for the party. They’ve rented a big AirBnb for their combined families . They were talking about bringing cake carriers with them so they could transport leftover cake back to the Airbnb. I also found out that the menu for the party is literally just cake and ice cream.
The leftovers comment bothered me. I think in their shoes I prob would have volunteered to pay for or contribute to ingredients, and/or I would not have assumed that leftovers would belong to me. At the very least I would have made a point of saying, “Since you baked all the cake, I hope you’ll consider taking some of anything left over.”
I dunno.
I understand how you feel, but it seems like the cake is your (costly and labor intensive) gift to the birthday person. I think once you give a gift, it belongs to someone else, and they have the right to do what they want with it, even if it’s to selfishly claim all the leftover cake.
