What's on your mind? (2025) - good way to start... even if a bit early... :-)

That is bad, though. IMHO the person answering the phone needs training. The vet practice we use isn’t huge but is pretty busy (6 docs, but 2 are half-time). Their standard is “If this is not an emergency, can you please hold?” and they always await the response before doing it. Elevator Muzak instead of ads, and someone picks up again within about 30 seconds.

The only reason I’m kind of over-aware of their norm is my old big dog is over 15 (google says ~ 95-103 years human). He’s on 5 meds for a chronic condition that needs monitoring, but otherwise he’s surprisingly well and happy, just slow. But some of the meds they switch every 3rd week to “pulse” him for a week of something stronger. And those they pulse aren’t on the same schedule. Because of this I’m always running out of different stuff at different times, so I’ve probably called them 20+ times a year in the last 18 months for refills (they just text me when ready).

Last week he took a sudden downturn so I called and one of the docs came out and visited him here. He offered to switch him up to something else, but also offered euthanasia. I figured why not try the switch, and it seems to have worked quite well so far; he’s actually a fair bit better than the weeks before.

And thus, WOYM? becomes UARCFOC!
