Hope you’re seen and released soon. And that you at least have a comfortable place to wait.
Oh my, how frustrating to have such a long wait in the ER. Hope that everything goes smoothly from this point on.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes! I am home now. We were able to get the trouble maker with the assistance of a muscle relaxant. I got some IV fluids and was able to leave after I could demonstrate I could keep down ginger ale and crackers. I will go back in a couple weeks for a follow up. Got a new acid reflux med. Now I am off to sleep.
Oh geez. I’m seeing this now but I’m 6 hours ahead of EDT. Take care!
Glad you’re back home. Fingers crossed!
Glad you finally got seen and they could fix you up. Hoping everything looks good when you go for your follow-up.
Three years ago I was scheduled for a cardiac ablation. I was there at the appointed hour….6:30 am (!), taken in promptly and prepped - groin shaved and in bed. At 8 am I was told I’d be taken in at 8:30, but at 8:30 I was told that they didn’t have a nurse, so it would have to be postponed! The coordinator looked concerned when she came to tell me that; I guess they get a lot of irate patients. I had it done 2 weeks later……6:30 am again.
I was discussing this with a doctor friend, and said I was surprised that they didn’t know this the night before. He responded that you get a nurse or two calling in sick and that blows everything.
OMG - I do hope you got out of there last night and you “cleared the chicken”! Hoping to read an update below/above.
VERY glad you got out of there, albeit in the middle of the night. Hopefully the new med helps!
Glad you are home and resting. No more dry chicken fingers!
She… “sings?”
I successfully ate instant oatmeal and coffee (separately) for breakfast. BF gets the pot roast this week, while I keep to softer food (the pot roast is soft, but we’re just being cautious). I am cooking black-eyed peas and they’ll become lunch this week, I think.
This one for @John: SF Chronicle article describing people behaving badly at a special natural area near Mt. Shasta. What is wrong with people? What happened to common sense, to say nothing of respect and responsibility?
Dang. That hurts.
I have GERD and have dealt with it pretty well, honestly. I eat a lot of raw ginger and avoid overeating. Still, the weekend comes around, beers going down, BBQ brisket and some sloppy sides and I’m pushing it. So long as isolate those event, I’m pretty good. I try to avoid the meds because there’s some research with regard to omeprazole, and others, that looks a little scary. Ginger, ginger tea, oatmeal, yogurt are among my GERD helpers.
Hope you get out and heal well, Amanda. I’ve never been to the ER for it, but it’s not a foody ending, rather a calm new beginning (once you get home.)
Can you paraphase the article? Can’t read without a subscription.
Keep healing!
Weird, I could read it without a subscription. There’s a meadow on Mt Shasta that is beautifu, full of wildflowers and is sacred to the local Winnimem Wintu tribe that’s being killed by love (too many visitors, campers, etc). Of course this “love” is manifested by folks who ignore signs to stay on the trail (vs trampling rare flora), wade barefoot through the pure water, etc. (The article doesn’t explicitly say this, but I imagine the visitors aren’t great at removing trash, etc.)
Omeprazole is intended for short term use. After being on it for MANY years (to treat asthma exacerbated by gerd) I developed a serious case of indigestion. After an endoscopy, resulting in a duodenal ‘mass’ removal I got off the omeprazole and on to Protonix, twice a day. Looking to reduce that to once a day, soon. An Rx dose of Pepcid Complete at bedtime works. No more asthma like before.
I’ve been having occasional mild heartburn, tried some generic Gaviscon (chewable tablets) I got from Target.
It works pretty good.
