What's on your mind? (2024)

We were out on a walk at a nearby lake when we both got the alert on our phones. I immediately started video recording the lake surface, but saw (and recorded) nothing: the lake stayed as smooth as glass. Spawn2 didn’t feel it in Berkeley, either, although they did get the tsunami alert. I checked the earthquake app later and saw a swarm of aftershocks mostly offshore. I sure hope those aren’t foreshocks of The Big One.

I’m on the Southern Oregon coast in the alert zone. I felt nothing and wasn’t even aware of the alert until 15 minutes before they canceled it.

I’m coming late but I wanted to say I’m so sorry. What a glorious companion and good boy.

Thank you, and to everyone for their sympathies and well wishes.

This is a nice place.

I got the tsunami warning, but never felt the quake itself.

Our pool water was sloshing around and only reading your response do I realize that this was probably why!!

I am not very observant at times.

This was the day we realized the word pizza causes our dog to appear, with that hopeful look in her eyes and her tail wagging.

Add that to the list of words we shouldn’t say when the dog is monitoring us.

My last tour ended in disaster. I mean for me. Made a few mistakes in ticket payments, and got to pay back from my own pocket. lol. That means all my guide fee, and some more
But the guests enjoyed the tour very much, and said they would recommend me to others too. That could be what I earned from the last tour. lol.

That sounds so frustrating. I was in business for myself for many years and the payments side of things could be a big headache.

I didn’t keep the used tickets with me either, and the company says that they need it for auditing. Understandable. But they didn’t tell me before the tour, and that’s not understandable. lol.
But the guests were very happy, and one family has already contacted me for a tour for friends, although I don’t know if or when it will happen. Some of them sent me photos they took of/with me, and I thanked them.
Tomorrow I have a tour of Kandy and then in Galle after two days. Things are getting into right shape. Main focus is to build a reputation.

I sometimes wonder if the ‘inventors’ of the internet could’ve predicted that their awesome product would be predominantly used for strangers to argue with one another about anything and everything

Agree, 100%. They should have made that requirement clear in advance.

I hope you are able to recover from the setback to your business quickly.

For me… I’ve learned A LOT of new skills (especially) from youtube.

From cooking to car repair to working with granite tile. I can’t tell you how much money youtube’s instructional videos have saved me.

Thank you. Yes I too hope that things will change. I have photos from my tours; I must find time to post online. Probably next week.
