What's on your mind? (2024)

I was one of those, too. Very sensitive to odors, fumes, scents and environmental air stuff. Indoor concerts (mostly at SF’s Winterland) would make me gag…so I had to quit going. Outdoor concerts were okay.

Got it, asking a question is “pouncing,” according to you. Alright, then!

When I was driving home from the emergency vet last Sunday around dusk, I remarked that I’d watch out for deer. Mind you, I’m not in the country; I’m in the city. So of course when I was getting onto the Beltway ramp, there were 5(!) smallish deer gathered on the side, like toll-takers. At least they weren’t running. I grew up in a heavily wooded portion of the county; we had massive amounts of critters. I once found a wee tree-frog under our dining room table!

Ay yi yi! A whitetail ran into our son as he was rounding a curve on a country highway on his motorcycle @ 45 mph. The skid was about 60+ feet and took him across the highway. He was fully leathered and helmeted. He lived and everything else was totaled. This cat must have 9 lives.

I was sad to read that #399 has passed onto the next wilderness. She was an incredible mother and maybe the most photographed grizzley bear in the contiguous United States. May she rest in peace with good bear memories.

I’d forgotten how gloriously vibrant the tree in front of our house glows in the fall. Almost makes up for the endless droppings of thistles all summer

The picture doesn’t do it justice.

We women are notorious for not taking care of ourselves (even if we don’t have other family members to take care of).

But if your body tells you that there’s something wrong, DO NOT WAIT to see if it’ll just “go away on its own”. It usually doesn’t.

Don’t smoke weed/chew gummy’s and drive. That’s all I ask.

There are manifold strains of medical marijuana that will not impair one’s cognitive functions in a way that isn’t conducive to operating a vehicle.

It’s not (like) alcohol.

One baker in Toronto that sells very expensive babka often has underbaked products. A lot of people don’t know what’s good, and a lot of people don’t know what they’re doing.

Oh yes, those liquid amber ‘balls’. They’d clog up the curbs and storm sewer drains during dry years when no storms washed them away. I used to collect the balls, dry them, spray paint them metallic colors, package them up and sell them for holiday decor at our local holiday bazaars. They would look cool on a heavily decorated Thanksgiving or holiday table.

Would those be the sort you smell from cars when driving? Somehow that’s not what I think of! Not sure why.

This is the latest medical literature review I could find -it’s from 2022, in case anyone is interested.

I think there are many strains that have some similarities with alcohol. I look forward to additional research!

Our family has a lot of experience with substances. Most of us no longer indulge, but my brother was recently diagnosed with a pretty devastating medical condition and is apparently being offered “a manifold of strains” and preparations. I am encouraging “complementary” approaches over choosing one vs the other.

One more to an easy read, with links to the actual research.

Well, I can’t speak for others, of course, but many sativa strains (e.g. Durban) with high levels of beta-caryophyllene or limonene are often recommended for physical (athletic endeavors) and mental energy boosts. I find I am far more focused on a sativa strain than without.

Other strains are best left for home use & def not for operating heavy machinery. Unless it’s an ice cream maker
