Nippon charcuterie plate?
Itâs one of my favorite recipes by her! Making the ground masala is a little time consuming, but once it is made (makes a bunch) it can live in the fridge or freezer. Totally worth it!
Tue & Wed were leftovers (grilled salmon & fennel gratin; Deetroit pizzazz) for dinner.
Yesterday my band played at our favorite bar in town, which is a bit of a home game for us (itâs my regular watering hole & the usual locash for my ladies night). They also do a spooktacular job at decorating the joint. Before we went on, my PIC and I split the pulled pork tostadas with pineapple salsa & the crab fries. The pulled pork was a-ok, I didnât eat my tostada. The crab fries were delish, even though the fries were a bit anemic. Very generous amount of lump crab.
Pardon the shitty pics.
Going out tonight. Donât feel like cooking.
The fries look good in the picture⌠Are they more of a poutine? It looks like there may or may not be gravy with the fries and crab.
They were called âThe Inman Friesâ (donât ask ) and listed as follows: French fries, lumb crab, Parmesan cheese, roasted garlic gravy.
So your poutine assessment is on point
I mostly picked off the crab as I was already stuffed from the pulled pork I had, plus the fries were underdone. Bummer, bc it wouldâve been a very successful dish had the fries been crispier/darker.
That chef has some problems with potatoes, it seems (a recent dish of lox and fingerlings presented me with near raw taters - yikes!)
Those fries remind me of something we ate about a year ago in Hancock MD - BuddyLouâs Famous Crab Fries. Essentially fries with lump crab meat, cheese, and garlic aioli. Really delicious. Four of us, admittedly starving after a day of riding, gobbled these down as an app and considered ordering a second platter.
There is a Korean grocery store near my apartment building that now sells prepared meals and they now have my latest food addiction - Korean fried chicken. Most days itâs the type with sweet chili sauce (meh) but sometimes they have the ones with a breaded crust like KFC but Korean When I went there last week they had the wings with the sweet chili sauce and this time they came with fries. I donât know what they did to those poor potatoes but the fries were overcooked and soggy. Note to self: just get the chicken and go to McDonalds up the street for the fries.
Chicken thighs marinated in labneh and creole seasonings, served with an Indian inspired potato/pea dish. Very nice, lots of good spicy things going on. 75+ degrees in late October in New England.
Spicy, shell on shrimp and romaine salad with various fresh and pickled vegetables , dressed in a red wine/Dijon/roasted garlic vinaigrette. Some grated Parm Regg on top.
Here I sit, in shorts and a tank top on Oct. 27th. Slider door is open, windows upstairs are open.
âWait!â you say! âYou live in New England! What are your windows doing open?â
âWell,â I say, âwhen it gets up to almost 80° during the day in late October here in New England, you take FULL advantage!â (No different from the lone 60° day in February when we see people running along the Charles River in shorts and tee shirtsâŚwith snowbanks piled up along the walkways!)
So, I went with a proper, easy last-gasp summer meal: a big-ass boigah, with char-siu sauce, American cheese and bacon on a lightly toasted Brioche bun. Lamb Weston fries alongside, cooked in the convection oven extra crispy.
There was wine. And a very nice sunset. Will look forward to tomorrowâs almost 80° day as well before Sundayâs high temp of 50° rolls in and Iâm back in leggings and a sweatshirt.
Leftover stew for lunch. Leftover stew for dinner. No more leftover stew. And I just noticed thereâs a full moon tonight. Itâs been so overcast lately. Just in time for Halloween? Everyone be careful out there.
I spoke too soon.
And ketchup/catsup fir dipping those fries in?
14° this morning, 30° for our high.
Wearing socks indoor again
Oh those fall colors of the larch, aspen, Oregon grape and ash.
Burgers on the grill. Craving the fast food version, right down to 'merican cheeze and dehydrated onions. Scratched the itch.
Spinach in vinaigrette because vegetables.
We had smoked country ribs with a Cajun dry rub and TJâs sweet potato fries. Mrs. P also made fig, gorgonzola, Andouille sausage toast with with garlic crunch and hot honey. We had a nice Australian cabernet to go with the meal.
